This promotional film made in 1934 by W.F. McConnel of Mac's Movies shows biscuit production at the Menz factory.
Creators of the much loved Yo-yo biscuit, the company manufactured bread, biscuits and confectionery from the Wakefield Street premises until 1953.
The business was sold to Arnott's Biscuits in the early 1960s, and the confectionary side (including their famed Fruchocs) was picked up by Robern in 1992.

Many of us remember the Weston's biscuit factory of Camperdown, which closed in February 2004. The George Weston Foods Melbourne factory also closed around the same time leaving a sense of loss for Australians who miss their favorite biscuits. Its understandable then that vintage biscuit tins have an emotional value and represent happy times and the simplicity of an earlier era . Collectors of biscuit tins are also beginning to appreciate the increasing value of some of the rarer collectible tins and items such as novelty containers, for example the desirable "beach bucket" containers produced by Arnott's before the war which can be worth up to $2000 if found in very good condition. Another rare and collectible Arnott's tin was the castanet tin which can be worth even more. Several Arnott's promotional items were made, and the glass barrels used to display biscuits on shop counters are also very desirable. The value of Arnott's tins has increased since the company was acquired by Campbell Soup Company in 1997. Now known as Arnott's Biscuits,the company was started by William Arnott in 1865. Collectors of Arnotts tins should be on look out for biscuit tins and promotional items from before the merger, which continue to increase in value.
